    Leinster Senior Campionship 4-12-11

    Presentation 4-5  -  2-0 Heywood
The senior team has maintained its 100% record and following an impressive win against Heywood, they have progressed to the Leinster semi final. It was a strong first half performance against a gale force wind that sealed the win. The Presentation lead by three points at half time thanks to a goal from Aoife Walsh and points from Emma Walsh and Eadaoin Miskella. In truth it was the solid defensive display and a dominant midfield performance that allowed the girls to carry this three point cushion into the second half. Heywood more than played their part and they rattled the slaneysiders net twice in the opening half and also produced some fine passages of play. The Presentation started the second half with purpose and with the aid of a strong wind they tagged on some well taken scores to run out victors on a scoreline of 4-5 to 2-0. The semi final are due to be played in the coming weeks and the girls have their sights firmly focused in retaining their Leinster crown.

    Junior Leinster Championship

    Presentation 2-3  -  2-10 St Fergals, Laois
The junior camogie team faced St Fergals of Laois, on Tuesday the 8th of November. This was a crucial match to decide which team would progress to the later stages of the championship. The Presentation girls began well, with a point in the opening minutes to settle them. Both sides traded points before the Presentation struck with their first goal mid way during the first half. It was Fergals who finished the half the stronger, scoring a goal and 2 points without reply, this meant they held a two point lead going into the second half.

Early in the second half the Presentation scored their second goal which saw them take the lead, it was a lead they would hold until the final ten minutes of the game. The midlanders struck a purple patch and scored 1-4, which saw them run out comfortable winners on a scoreline of 2-10 to 2-3. The game was closer than the scoreline suggested and great skill and character was shown by both sides. This draws an end to the Junior camogie campaign for the year. This is a very young team and many players still have 2 years to play at this grade. A big thank you to all the players and teachers for all their hard work and commitment. The future is extremely bright for the Presentation camogie club, there will be a Minor (1st and 2 nd years) championship held in early Spring. With a talented bunch of young players emerging, the Presentation will once again look to compete for Leinster honours.

    Junior Leinster Championship

    Presentation 5-6  -  5-4 Gorey CS
The junior camogie team got their campaign back on track with a well deserved two point victory over Gorey. Assisted with a strong first half wind, the  girls got off to a flyer scoring two early goals with both sides trading points  before the Presentation scored a goal just before half time. This left our girls eight points ahead with a tough second half ahead of them. With  ten minutes to go and  battling against a strong gale the girls lead had been cut to one, but they dug deep and responded well scoring a goal and a point in the space of a minute.  Gorey managed a late consolation goal before the referees whistle drew an end to  an entertaining affair. This result leaves the juniors with a record of played  one, lost one. Victory in their two remaining games would see them progress to  the semi finals.

    Senior Leinster Championship
    Presentation 7-6, Gorey CS 2-2
Our seniors completed the double over Gorey on a comprehensive scoreline of 7-6 to 2-2. It was a strong first half display that was most impressive with the  girls bagging five goals. Against a gaelforce wind the girls fought hard and were  under pressure for long spells of the first half. However some clinical finishing from our forwards meant the girls went in seven points to the good at half  time. Playing with a gale in the second half the girls added two more goals and six  points to put the contest to rest. Having claimed a walkover in their first game  this win sets them up nicely to make the semi finals. The coming month will see  both juniors and seniors out again and if they can maintain this rich vein of  form both will be vying for Leinster honours.

    Junior U16 Leinster Championship 2011-2012

Presentation Wexford 4-7, Castlecomer CS 4-9
The Junior camogie girls opening fixture was an away trip to Castlecomer , Kilkenny. It was very much a game of two halves, the first of which saw Castlecomer hold the Pres scoreless and storm into a 1-7 to 0-0 lead at half time. The girls were very disappointed at their first half performance and came out in the second half a different team, playing with great skill and passion. A much improved defensive display laid the platform for the midfield and forward to launch an amazing comeback. The Pres registered 4-7 in the second half, they took the lead for the first time with five minutes remaining. It was a lead short lived and victory was snatched from their grasp as Castlecomer struck for a last minute goal to take the points. The girls can be very proud of their second half endeavours and a repeat of this seconds half will see them progress far in this competition.

    Caman & Run 2011

    Picture
A great honour was bestowed on the school as four girls were granted the opportunity to grace the hallowed turf of Croke Park for the Camogie Association's 'Caman & Run' relay race on All Ireland Club Finals Day.  Mr Walsh was also very privileged, as he made his managerial debut in GAA Head Quarters!

The girls competed in the Junior section of the competition and involved a solo and handpass relay, covering the length of the pitch.  The event was very exciting to watch and the girls did themselves and the school very proud.  The girls are pictures to the right with Sinéad O' Connor, Ard Stúirthóir of the Camogie Association! Well done girls, we hope to see you and Mr Walsh make a competitive return to Croke Park in the future!
