Leinster Ladies Post Primary – Under 14
Colaiste Eoin, Hacketstown 5-2, Presentation Wexford 12-7
The Under 14 team of Presentation Secondary School, Wexford got their Leinster Post-Primary campaign off to a flying start, after a comprehensive 26 point victory over Coláiste Eoin of Hacketstown (Carlow), a game played in Hacketstown on Friday 10th February 2012.
From the beginning of the game, Presentation, Wexford dominated proceedings and struck some well taken goals in
the opening minutes, which gave the away side the advantage. Presentation, Wexford never looked back from there and lead comfortably at the break by 5-5 to 1-1.
The second half was largely in keeping with events of the first, with Presentation, Wexford getting extra scores at crucial stages of the second half and this killed off any challenge that the home team tried to assemble.
This was an excellent display by all the Presentation players involved. Everyone who pulled on the Presentation jersey represented the school with skill, determination and spirit. The win was particularly impressive given the poor playing conditions on the day and the fact that the great majority of the panel is drawn from First-Year alone, this being the first time that many pulled on the school jersey. Well done to all involved.
Next up, in this competition, is a home match against Ramsgrange Community School. Should Presentation, Wexford win that game, they will win the group outright and advance to the knockout stages of the competition.
Training resumes after the Mid-Term break - Tuesday 21st February from 4-5pm - with Mr Rolston, Mr Kelly and Mr O’ Gealbhaín.

Leinster Ladies Post Primary – Senior
F. C. J., Bunclody 3-14, Presentation Wexford 5-10
Presentation, Wexford’s Senior footballers advanced to the quarter-finals of the Leinster Post-Primary Competition after a thrilling encounter with last year’s finalists, F. C. J., Bunclody, played in the G. A. A. grounds in Bunclody on Wednesday 26th October. The home team started the better and it took some time for the Presentation to find an effective rhythm in the game. They eventually did and scored, what proved to be, some crucial scores in the final 10-15 minutes of the half. F. C. J., Bunclody lead at half-time by 2-7 to 1-5.
The second half was a truly spectacular encounter and great credit must be given to both sides for offering up such a spectacle. The opening 10-15 minutes of the half were pretty much “tit-for-tat” as the home team cancelled out some Presentation scores. F. C. J., Bunclody continued to lead by 5 points with 15 minutes gone in the second half. However, the away team’s spirit, determination and courage to advance to the knockout stages was clearly evident, as the Presentation began to turn the screw on the home team’s resolve, through the taking of some marvellous scores by Aleisha Cullen, Rebecca Foley and Ciara Rossiter in particular. The home team did not give up easily and continued to find scores but heroic Presentation defending and some superb goalkeeping interventions by Shauna Carley, saw Presentation, Wexford emerge victorious by two points at the final whistle.
At the final whistle, the contrasting emotions of the two teams were evident: F. C. J., Bunclody were dejected, as they realised they were knocked out of the competition, while Presentation were, rightfully, ecstatic at the whistle. This was a fantastic display of spirit and skill by the Presentation, Wexford and all who were involved on the day should be very proud of their role in securing the victory. Well done to all involved. This win means that Presentation, Wexford advance to the Leinster Post-Primary Senior ‘C’ quarter-finals - as winners of Group One - with 3 wins from 3 games. Presentation, Wexford will play the winners of Group 2 in the final eight of the competition. This group consists of two Kilkenny and two Laois schools: St Brigid’s, Callan; Presentation, Kilkenny; Heywood CS and Scoil Chriost Ri, Portlaoise. Training will resume after the Mid-Term Break. Mr Rolston would like to thank Mr Kelly and Mr O’Gealbhaín for their continued help with these sessions.
